Daniela Rhodes aka D-Vox, a multi-genre dj/vocalist, has a wealth of experience under her belt and has taken her head turning, dj sets incorporating her live, ambient vocals to Ibiza, Ayia Napa, The Maldives, Switzerland, Australia and has supported Judge Jules, Seb Fontaine, Christian Varella and Brandon Block amongst others.  D-Vox started developing her vocal style at house parties and on dnb radio stations back in 2004. She has a unique ability to accompany instrumental tracks within her dj sets with complementary, original vocals.

Her journey began mixing hard trance at home using budget Stanton turntables inspired by Tiesto. After investing in Technics 1200′s, she leaned towards spinning funky/tribal house vibes and began taking her sound to local bars and clubs, landing a gig at nightclub Usine A Gaz in Nyon, Switzerland when she was just 21.

In November 2015, D-Vox played at Soundwave Mini Festival in Dorset, UK – her first ever festival gig. She was spotted here with her progressive sound by a Ministry Of Sound promoter who offered her the opening set at the legendary London club at a trance event Elevation Audio. After impressing at MOS with her tough, progressive house beats with live vocals and after re-recording the set for her followers to enjoy, she has been inundated with collaboration requests from producers.

As well as being a multi-genre dj who turns heads when singing live in the mix, 35 year old Daniela has been throwing herself into opportunities to collaborate and is now also becoming recognised for her vocal and lyrical skills in the studio.

Working completely by ear with no musical training and after her years as a teen drawing influence from UK garage and rnb singing into her hairbrush, she has developed the natural ability to create complimentary melodies to accompany electronic productions. This, together with her deep and inspirational lyrics, is sealing Daniela’s reputation within the music community.

In 2015 came her first collaborative label release ‘Perpetual Motion’ as part of UK drum and bass producer/dj Philth’s Mammoth EP. The track also made it to the ‘We Are 21’ Hospital Records compilation in January 2017 and has received huge support.

A few months later in February 2017 Daniela signed a three month contract with Indian agency H2H Artistes to provide beats six nights a week at Ozen By Atmosphere luxury island resort in The Maldives, spinning everything from house and garage, to funk and soul, paying attention to her audience and helping them create beautiful memories of their once in a lifetime holiday accompanied by the music they love.  As her time in paradise came to an end, Daniela formulated a plan to focus on vocal collaboration projects throughout the year ahead with an aim to get as many label releases out there as she could,  getting to work almost immediately upon her return to the UK.

In January 2018 came another release on Spanish label Vamos Music with Weymouth based production trio Sweet LA. Taking influence from the classic, 90’s dance music sound, ‘Let Me Tell Ya’ continues to make appearances on radio shows and has been very well received.

After meeting whilst djing together and becoming friends on the Parasol Ibiza Tour 2017, Flemcy Music label boss JP Lantieri wasted no time in making contact with Daniela to collaborate and in January 2018 their uplifting, progressive journey ‘Inspired’ was unveiled. The track has received an incredible amount of attention, making it to 21st position in the Beatport progressive house new releases chart and has been supported by the likes of Markus Schulz, Petar Dundov, Robert Babicz and Sascha. Recently aired exclusively on Laurent Schark’s multi-syndicated selection show with a glowing review, and with remixes by Ornery and Mystik Vybe also making it to several radio show playlists, ‘Inspired’ is surely set to be the first of many creations between Daniela and the Flemcy team – watch this space!

In March 2018 came another collaboration release on Greek label Deep Sessions Recordings with Midlands based producer and dj Col Lawton. Their smooth yet haunting deep house track ‘Deep In The Forest’ has already caught the ear of several local radio show hosts as well as many music lovers within Daniela’s loyal and ever expanding following. She and Col recently offered a free download release ‘Crazy Hazy Days’ and had another recent deep house release together, ‘Seduction’ on Krafted in Aug 2018.  Daniela has a jam packed diary and is currently working on collaborations with artists and labels across genres based in USA, Japan, South Africa, Panama, UK and Netherlands due for release in 2018/2019.

She has made numerous appearances over the last two years at London’s legendary Life FMTV, playing as a guest alongside dnb residents Vitamin T and Teknola, also appearing back to back with Hardpoint Recordings label boss Martyn Nytram. She also appeared for the stations ‘Ladies Rollin’ Out’ all day female dj event with her deep techno and live vocal sound in November 2017 alongside Dutchie, Sweetpea, Lady G and others. D-Vox also met dnb mc, talent spotter and NLP life coach Darren Shaw aka DVSMC in July 2018, becoming acquainted after she responded to his Facebook post looking for a vocalist. Venturing across London to see her perform at a gig in Earl’s Court, they realised quickly that they shared the same, selfless passion for the music and for the people and became friends instantly. He helped open a door for her to dazzle the ravers with a short, dnb dj/vocalist set in Aug 2018 at Grant Walker’s incredible Epidemik night – one of London’s longest running and positive vibed, underground music events. DVSMC also appeared on her August Afro*disiac Live Radio show as guest MC, giving his first ever interview over the airwaves in his successful, 17 year career. Plans for further collaborations together are in the pipeline – watch this space.

Her journey with Bournemouth’s number one internet based radio station Afro*disiac Live Radio began at the beginning of 2015 when she joined forces with three other local female djs Jay Jazvin, Lady G and Pixi J, giving birth to their weekly show ‘Afrodite Friday: Full Pitch Control. After three wonderful years hosting together on a weekly rotation and at local venues, is was time for the girls to spread their wings as individuals. Daniela launched her own show on the station ‘D-Vox & Guests’ with an aim to play multi-genres with live vocals featuring new music and to showcase a talented guest each month. She hosted ‘Groove Dimensions’ from 2016-2017 on one of Germany’s popular progressive stations www.progressivebeats.org which aired every 2nd Sunday. Audio to all previous shows can be found on her Mixlcoud page in her playlist section > https://mixcloud.com/d-vox/.

D-Vox and her equally as talented partner DJ XJ were invited to play as supporting guests on the Parasol Ibiza Tour 2017, in association with Darkest Before Dawn Records and Flemcy Music, playing various San Antonio venues including Rio, Itaca, Entice and Viva. She and XJ also joined the line up and promotion team of Ayia Napa House Party clubbing package holiday in 2018 and will be returning in April 2019 to perform at Nissi Bay beach bar, Tiki bar, The Castle Club, the ANHP Fantasy Boat Party and several other venues.

Ambitious and willing to step out of her comfort zone, Daniela isn’t afraid to try new ways of using her voice or adopt new ways of thinking to achieve results. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, and with more collaborations in progress, the year ahead looks very exciting for this passionate and driven dj/vocalist. Who knows where the future will take her as she continues to surprise audiences and collaborators alike with her versatility, dedication and determination to achieve all of the musical goals on her hit list.
